FAQ-immittance

1.       How do I clean my ear tips on my Impedance?

Ear tips may be cleaned of visible soil by washing in a solution of warm water and a mild detergent/soap.  To disinfect ear tips DO NOT AUTOCLAVE soak tips in a 10% bleach solution not to exceed one hour. Be sure tips are dry before placing them on probe.

2.    Why can’t I run a tymp?

The probe tip could be clogged with wax, the air tube on portable machines could be pulled off or loose, the probe tubes on a diagnostic machine could be clogged or a small hole maybe in it.

2.       Why is there a Daily Cal mode on my tymp?

To keep the tests accurate on a daily basis because of small atmospheric changes like temp, barometric pressures.

4.    How do I clean the probe tip when wax clogs the tip?

On most diagnostic machines pull the probe tip off the tubes and clean tip with a cleaning wire and replace probe tubes.  On most screening machines unscrew probe tip and clean with a cleaning wire.   If unsure how contact one of our local offices and ask for Service Department.

5.       If I get a hole in my probe tubes can I cut them back and replace them?

No.  If the probe tubing is shortened the tymp maybe out of calibration.

6.       My Middle Ear Analyzer reads very high volume upon every test, what can I do to fix it?

Clean probe tip with cleaning wire.  Wax is the most common cause of probe tip occlusion.

7.       I get a leak message or no seal when running a test?

Try running a test in a hard walled cavity and see if it maintains a seal.  If so, check the eartips being used for stiff or hardened rubber if so it might be the tips need replacement.

8.        Can a Middle Ear Analyzer be connected to a computer?

Yes.   The Madsen Zodiac 901, Interacoustics, and Maico can be connected to a computer through NOAH.
